The teams - Colombia

South American qualifier - Group A

The Colombian team is a relatively new one, only formed in 1998 prior to the first World Championship.

The squad has since participated in the South American Championships as well as the World Championships in Brazil (1998), Spain (2000) and Brazil (2002), and the Pan-American games held in Rio de Janeiro in 2007.

The Colombians will provide a motivated team with their own firm ambitions, one which is ready to develop as well as possible given the resources at their disposal.

Their main aim is to improve on the results of previous participations, which will mean bettering the fourth place finishes they achieved on their home continent in the 1998, and 2002 World Championships.
