Challenge Hereford
The organisers of the IBSA World Blind Football Championships are challenging the people of Hereford and its surrounding areas to come and help us deliver the event.
Major sports events offer a chance for a different experience of volunteering - more than 10,000 people helped out at the Commonwealth Games in Manchester in 2002, whilst London 2012 are looking to recruit 70,000 people!
We are looking for a small fraction of those numbers, around 100 or so and are currently recruiting for a number of positions including team co-ordinators, drivers, event management support, hospitality assistants, car park, spectator village and arena stewards.
We think we can offer a decent package of benefits including an official tournament branded kit consisting of an UMBRO tracksuit, polo shirt and shorts (for the hot weather), out of pocket expenses, blind awareness training, food and drink on site, a post event party and a small gift from The FA. But most importantly we are offering the opportunity to take an active part in the largest disability football event to be held in England.
The football competition covers 8 days starting on Saturday 14th August and ending on Sunday 22nd August with a rest day on Friday 20th August.
We are asking people to commit to at least 3 days (or shifts) and volunteers need to be over 18 though there is no upper age limit!
If you are up to the challenge then all you have to do is complete a really simple and short application form. Forms are available from a variety of sources including the new section of the website (http://www.blind2010.com/news/We_need_your_help!/index.php) or by popping into thePoint4 building at the College. Alternatively you can e mail us at blind2010@logistique.org.uk or call 0161 743 3515.
